Fence Companies in South Reno

Reno Solid Fence connects South Reno homeowners with independent fence contractors licensed by the Nevada State Contractors Board. The south end of the Truckee Meadows, from Double Diamond and Damonte Ranch up toward Galena and the Mount Rose Highway, is a patchwork of City of Reno neighborhoods and unincorporated county parcels, and the difference shows up in the permit.

HOA neighborhoods

South Reno is home to Damonte Ranch and Galena high schools and to many newer subdivisions with homeowners associations. Where there is an HOA, its architectural committee usually sets fence material, color, height and sometimes the exact style along common areas. Reno's permit plot plan asks for HOA approval where applicable, and Washoe County requires an active committee's sign-off before submittal.

Rear lots that back onto common open space or a drainage corridor face an extra Reno rule: any part of a fence more than 4 feet above grade next to major drainageways and open space must be open fencing, and chain link is not allowed there except where specified. Wrought iron or aluminum view fencing is the usual answer.

Steamboat Creek and wind

Steamboat Creek, which also takes water from the historic Steamboat Ditch, carries flow to the Truckee River, and it is one of the creeks Washoe County lists as a Significant Hydrologic Resource. Lots near it or near Galena Creek can carry buffer rules and drainage easements; Washoe County does not allow fencing across County drainage easements or within floodways.

The Steamboat Springs geothermal power plants mark the south end of town, where the valley opens toward Washoe Valley and its well-known winds. Six-foot solid privacy fences and block walls there need post spacing and footings designed for it.
